When someone asks how I became a gardener and how Treasures of the Earth developed, I tell them I had my trowel in my hand when I was born and was looking for my “patch of dirt”!!

My grandparents and mother were avid gardeners from necessity as well as love of beautiful plants; I was fortunate to have them for role models, and they taught me well.

The first time I stepped onto the property I now am caretaker of, I knew I had found what I had been yearning for.    We started with a vegetable garden, and then added an iris bed, and then a perennial garden, and then expanded with a butterfly bed in the shape of a butterfly.  And because I don’t like taking time to mow lawn (I would rather weed!!), I keep creating gardens!!

And as many of you can relate to, I gathered more books than I have shelves for, attended many classes, and finally took a year-long herbal apprenticeship course that opened a whole new path.  I have since discovered biodynamics and the miraculous life it gives our soil.  I sincerely believe we will need to be dependant upon ourselves in the future for more of the food we eat, both for nutrition and medicinal value, and so we need to learn how to enrich the soil so that the food we eat will feed our whole being.    And I know in my soul that we all need to take better care of Mother Earth, and that I need to share the property and gardens with others and share what I have learned and continue to learn.

I invite you to visit, to share your wisdom, and to enjoy the beauty and bounty of Treasures of the Earth.  Come walk the gardens, visit our Garden House with many hand made nurturing products, garden accessories, and gift items, sit a while in one of the gardens and sip some freshly brewed herbal tea, and allow your whole being to absorb the wonderful energy of the plants and the property.  We look forward to seeing you.
